Thank you for visiting us – we are happy you’re here!
A few things about St. James Lutheran Preschool to help you as you look for a nurturing, play-based, educational program for your Little One:
1. Registration for the upcoming school year begins in the month of January and is ongoing until classes fill up - first-come, first-served.
2. Our Programs include Mommy & Me (birth-23 months), Tiny Tots Separation Class (2 Year Olds) and 3- and 4-year-old classes.
3. We are a half-day program for 2s, 3s, and 4s.
4. We go on Field Trips to a local farm, nature center, and library. For parents and grandparents, we invite you to our Preschool’s Thanksgiving Show and Christmas Pageant.
5. We have an Open Enrollment Policy – if there is an opening during the current school year, your child may join the class at any time (i.e., if you just moved into the area)
6. Personal tours are available throughout the year, oftentimes while classes are in session when a picture is worth a thousand words! What you see and hear is who we are!
7. We hold one Open House during the year and it’s always on the last Tuesday in January from 12:30 – 2:30 pm and 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Come with your little one and play and meet the teachers! No registration is required to attend Open House. Just come!
8. Our Preschool is a community! We offer an ongoing and active Mom’s Group because we know parenting is hard. In our Mom’s group you’ll be surrounded by other moms who understand parenting young children and they will help build up your “village” through all the ups and downs!
Director’s Welcome Message
Dear Prospective and Current Families,
Welcome to St. James Lutheran Preschool! We are a nurturing community of teachers and staff, parents and children — an extended family committed to creating a safe, fun and meaningful early childhood experience. Together we instill and celebrate a life-long love of learning and friendship.
Children at St. James Lutheran are treated with respect, consistency, and encouragement. In this warm Christ-centered environment, children experience playful and developmentally-appropriate learning each day as they grow and blossom. Our bright, welcoming indoor classrooms and spaces inspire exploration and learning. Our outdoor playground provides ample opportunity for running, climbing, swinging and digging in the sand all while giggling and talking with friends.
Teachers intentionally plan lessons in each of our PROGRAMS to ensure that learning is fun, playful, and relevant to their lives. Academics are embedded into the curriculum through play-based learning activities. By the time St. James Lutheran Preschool children move on to Kindergarten, they have the self-help and social skills that are essential for a positive Kindergarten experience. They have a love of learning and books, can make friends, and understand how to work as an individual or with a group.
Our curriculum follows the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Children of all religious traditions and ethnic origins are welcomed here.
St. James Lutheran teachers, staff and parents partner closely to ensure the best preschool experience possible for each child. Communication between parents, teachers, and preschool administration is ongoing. Parents are encouraged to be a part of their children's school lives through involvement in classroom events, Helping Hands committee, and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
For further information, or to arrange a personal guided tour of the school, please contact our preschool office. I look forward to meeting you in person!
All the best,
Meredith Johansson, Director
